Just want to lift?
Badger can be as simple as a notebook. You go to the gym, you write down what you did, you leave. This guide sticks to that and nothing else, so you can start logging today and pick up the rest whenever you feel like it.
Your first 5 minutes
- Open the Home tab and tap New workout.
- Pick an exercise. Scroll the categories or use the search box at the top.
- Enter your weight and reps.
- Tap the checkmark to log the set.
- The rest timer starts on its own. Take your break.
- Log your next set, and the one after that.
- When you are done, tap End workout to see a quick summary.
Set up nothing
You do not need a routine, a program, or any configuration to start. Badger already includes hundreds of exercises, so most of the time you just pick yours and log. If one you do is not in the list, you can add it as a custom exercise in a few seconds, no setup screen required. The only setting that matters is the weight unit, and you picked that the first time you opened the app. Everything else has a sensible default.
The 3 things to know
- The checkmark logs a set. That is the one button you press over and over.
- The rest timer starts by itself after each set. You can watch it or ignore it, it does not block anything.
- Your past workouts live on the History tab whenever you want to look back.
Ignore the rest for now
Routines, RPE and RIR, the plate calculator, volume landmarks, progress graphs: all of it is in there, and all of it stays out of your way until you go looking for it. None of it is required to log a workout. Leave it alone and the app behaves like a plain logbook.
When you are ready
If you start following a set program, read the program guide to set it up once and have your weights waiting each session. If you get curious about your numbers, read the data guide to find your PRs, trends, and charts.
